School Committee Meetings
Subcommittees of the Somerville School Committee are where much of the business associated with overseeing the Somerville Public Schools happens. Members of the public are welcome to attend Subcommittee meetings and meetings of the Committee for Long Range Planning. A complete schedule of meetings is available on the Calendar of Events. Minutes of meetings are archived online as they are approved by the School Committee.
- Education Programs and Instruction Subcommittee
- Finance and Facilities Subcommittee
- Rules Management Subcommittee
In addition, the Committee for Long Range Planning is a Standing Committee of the Whole. It is chaired by the Chair of the School Committee.
Weekly Calls and Agendas
Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order suspending certain provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. C. 30A, s. 18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitations on the number of people that may gather in one place, as well as Mayor Curtatone’s Declaration of Emergency, dated March 15, 2020, this meeting of the Somerville School Committee will be conducted via remote participation. We will post an audio recording, audio-video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of these proceedings as soon as possible after the meeting on the City of Somerville website and local cable access government channels (SCAT).
School Committee Call for the Week of June 22, 2020
School Committee Meeting Agenda for the Week June 22, 2020
The Somerville School Committee will continue to have public comment during Regular remote meetings. Although the mechanics of signing up will be different, we will follow policies: File: BEDH PUBLIC COMMENT AT SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS and File: BEDH-E GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC COMMENT.
The meeting link will open to the public at 6:45 for every Regular School Committee meeting to allow constituents to sign up for Public Comment. Once in the meeting, those wanting to sign up for Public Comments will enter their name and address in the question box and hit send. The signup will close once the meeting starts at 7:00 just as it does at in person meetings. The Chair will decide the length of time allotted depending on how many speakers sign up. Speakers are encouraged to submit their written comments to Administrative Assistant Katherine Santiago, email@example.com.
As always, constituents may contact the Somerville School Committee directly.
