Health Students

The Health Assisting/Pharmacy Tech Program is designed to prepare students for career entry, advancement, and continuing education by introducing them to a broad range of career opportunities and options in the health care field. In the Health Assisting/Pharmacy Tech freshman, sophomore, and junior program students study the history of health care, health care systems, basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, legal and ethical issues, communication, interpersonal skills and learn how to obtain vital signs and assess patients. In the Nursing Assistant Training Program, students develop and demonstrate technical skills and knowledge. Students learn in the classroom simulation lab, and provide direct patient care in many clinical settings. This is a comprehensive program in which one skill builds on the previously-learned skills and knowledge to bring students to higher levels of understanding and competency as health care workers.
