What is a gap year?

Sometimes, students will choose to take a year between high school and college to travel, work, or participate in a gap year program.

The cost of a gap year

Often, participating in a gap year program comes at a cost. However, there are some programs that offer significant financial aid to make the program accessible to all students.

If I want to do a gap year, should I still apply to college in my senior year?

Typically, yes. We want you to have as many options as possible. Sometimes, you can defer your college admissions for a year. This means you won’t have to go through the application process while you are out of school (which can be logistically challenging).
