Somerville Public Schools uses a formative assessment system called “i-Ready," a computer-based assessment program that all students in Grades 3-8 will take three times per year. The sole purpose of i-Ready is to help our educators collect data on how students are performing in order to drive instruction in the classroom, and to reflect academic growth among our students. The district will host an hour-long virtual information session about i-Ready for families interested in how this platform drives SPS instructional practices.

The district continues to look ahead toward a new building to replace Winter Hill Community Innovation School. The next step in the process is the New School Building Visioning Forum, an all-day collaboration of staff, SPS families, and the community at large for discussion on the needs of a modern learning environment. Space is limited, and participants will be selected to ensure a broad range of perspectives that reflect the diversity of our community. We encourage anyone with interest and a desire to engage with fellow stakeholders to apply for a spot in this collaborative group.
