The City of Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs (SOIA), in collaboration with the SPS Somerville Family Learning Collaborative, will host a Know Your Rights training for Somerville Public Schools families. This session will equip you with critical knowledge about your constitutional rights regarding immigration enforcement, providing vital information to help protect yourself, your colleagues, and your family. Time will be set aside at the end for questions and discussion. The presentation will cover fundamental constitutional rights when encountering immigration enforcement, family preparedness strategies and planning, and an overview of immigration enforcement procedures and protocols. Presenters include Rebecca Zama, the Legal Services Coordinator and Immigration Policy Analyst with the City of Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs (SOIA), and Jake Savage, the Somerville Public Library’s Social Worker, will also join this session as a resource for community members.
iReady Info Session
Somerville Public Schools uses a formative assessment system called “i-Ready," a computer-based assessment program that all students in Grades 3-8 will take three times per year. The sole purpose of i-Ready is to help our educators collect data on how students are performing in order to drive instruction in the classroom, and to reflect academic growth among our students. The district will host an hour-long virtual information session about i-Ready for families interested in how this platform drives SPS instructional practices.
