Kindergarten Overview
The Somerville Public Schools has kindergarten classes at all our K–8 Schools, as well as the Capuano Early Childhood Center. The kindergarten day runs from 8:10 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. High-quality afterschool programming until 5:30 p.m. is available at all sites. Please visit the Somerville Community Schools department page to learn more about the school-based afterschool program, which has a separate enrollment process and sliding scale fees.
Kindergarten Enrollment Timeline, 2024–2025 School Year
- Online Registration begins for 2024–2025 school year on January 3, 2024. Enrollment 2024-2025 webpage.
- Registration assistance for any grade requires a scheduled appointment at the Enrollment Office (167 Holland Street). Please call 617-629-5670. The office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and the last appointment starts at 3:00 p.m.
- Registration deadline for participating in the first batch of school assignments is February 23, 2024. School assignment letters or emails will be sent out by the Enrollment Office for first batch kindergarten placements the week of March 18, 2024.
