Albert F. Argenziano School

The Albert F. Argenziano School sits in the heart of Somerville’s Union Square area. We identify ourselves as Somerville’s P.R.I.D.E. because we encourage all members of the community, students, teachers, staff, and administration to be Perseverant, Respectful, Inclusive, Determined, and Empathetic. 
 
The students who make up the Argenziano School community come from a variety of countries and cultural backgrounds around the world. This multicultural composition makes the Argenziano School a unique and vibrant place to grow and learn. Argenziano is one of the schools that currently houses the district’s Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Program for students in Grades K–5. Through this program, multilingual learners (MLLs) are integrated into General Education classrooms, providing them with opportunities to learn and grow alongside native English speakers. The program focuses on developing English proficiency and strengthening students’ social and academic language while embracing cultural differences and bilingualism.

The school offers specialized instruction in dedicated classrooms for students with language-based disabilities in Grades 4–8. Depending on their individual needs and required services, students integrate into General Education classrooms for Math, Science, and Social Studies. Argenziano has also expanded its range of inclusive opportunities by welcoming one strand of the district’s AIM (Adapt, Include, Motivate) Program for students on the autism spectrum in Grades K–8.
