What is the Grade Nine Cluster Program?  Dividing our freshmen class into three individual clusters "A, B, and C" is one of the many steps we take to personalize Somerville High School. When students feel as if they belong, they are more receptive to the varied and challenging learning experiences SHS offers. Each cluster consists of approximately 100 students who share the same English, mathematics, science, and social studies teachers.

The cluster teachers function as a team.  They meet 3 times in each 7-day cycle to determine strategies to maximize the potential of the students they teach.  Cluster teachers strive to support and maintain parental and support service contact.  To facilitate communication, cluster teachers meet regularly with Housemasters, guidance counselors, adjustment counselors, and special education liasons.  Each cluster has team meeting time to be used to discuss student progress, to develop curriculum materials, and to meet with or phone parents and guardians.
