The long range plan, which extends from 2007-2012, was set through a comprehensive community planning process facilitated by the members of the then School Committee. The five long range goals are:
Long Range Goal #1A
:
Encourage and support individual schools in the exploration and pursuit of a universal and mandatory redesigned school day/year using the Expanded Learning Time (ELT) model and grant program promoted by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education/Mass 2020.
At this time there is no action on Goal 1A.
Long Range Goal #1B:
Develop an organized, consistent, accessible, curriculum-linked but not curriculum-driven voluntary after-school learning program for elementary students which (a) complements the school day, (b) provides students with opportunities to expand their knowledge, skills and attitudes through high quality, developmentally appropriate academic enrichment activities, and (c) fulfills some needs of parents/guardians by providing homework help and a safe and secure after-school environment.

Long Range Goal #2:
Create a groundbreaking, exciting middle school instructional program.

Long Range Goal #3:
Increase inclusion opportunities for special education students.

Long Range Goal #4:
Establish a foreign language instruction program before high school.

Long Range Goal #5:
Develop greater multicultural understanding and increase staff diversity.
